What we collect and why
We store your name, email, hashed password, and sign-in sessions to operate your account. Session and security records may include IP addresses, browser information, timestamps, and request identifiers. We store your uploaded files, extracted text, author notes, draft history, generated feedback, revision decisions, and conversations to provide the reading service.
We also store purchase and subscription identifiers, payment status, usage counts, and model token counts for billing, access, service reliability, and abuse prevention. Stripe handles your payment details; our application does not receive your full card number.
Who processes your information
Cloudflare hosts the site, database, private file storage, queues, transactional email, sign-up protection, and AI gateway. Recovery emails contain your reset link, not manuscript content. Our AI gateway requests disable prompt and response logging.
OpenAI receives manuscript sections and reader context for sequential reads; optional editorial and marketing reviews receive the supplied draft and author note. We request store=false. That setting does not mean every provider security or abuse-monitoring record is immediately deleted.
Anthropic receives reader letters and notes for summaries and draft comparisons. Notes can quote your text. Follow-up conversations can also include the text of chapters reread to answer you. These requests may be retained for up to 30 days. Our data-handling page explains the context for each type of review.

Your writing is not our advertising material
We do not sell your manuscript or account information, publish your manuscript, or use your writing to train our own models. We use the service providers above to deliver the product. Access by our team is limited to operating the service, resolving support requests, and addressing security or legal obligations. We may disclose information where required by law or necessary to protect the service and its users.
Cookies, invitations, and connected assistants
We use cookies for sign-in and security, and browser storage for interface preferences. If you follow an invitation, a cookie remembers the first valid inviter for 30 days. When you create an account, that invitation is attached to your account. Inviters see credit totals, not your email or book. A keyed email fingerprint in the reward ledger prevents repeat rewards after account recreation.
If you connect an external assistant, the permissions you grant control its access. Reports and notes may contain quotations from your manuscript. Information returned to that assistant is also subject to its own data handling. Only connect assistants you trust.
Retention and deletion
Your books remain available until you delete them. Deleting a book removes its stored source drafts and related manuscript and report data from our active application storage. It does not erase Stripe records, provider retention, or recovery backups immediately. Security and billing records may be retained to prevent abuse, resolve disputes, and meet legal obligations. Minimal read counters remain after book deletion so deletion cannot reset usage limits; invitation fingerprints also remain for abuse prevention.
To request account deletion, a copy of your information, a correction, or help exercising privacy rights available where you live, email seth@thecomputerplumbers.com from your account address. We may need to verify ownership. Delete individual books from their book pages. Cancel subscriptions through Manage billing before requesting account deletion.
Questions and changes
This service is intended for adults. Contact us if you believe a child has provided personal information. We will update the effective date when this policy changes and provide notice of material changes through the service. Send privacy questions to seth@thecomputerplumbers.com.
